Welcome to the Wild Rose.

The Old English wild Rose has special meaning for the owners of this beautiful house.  It is the family crest and the owners asked that we feature it as often as possible.  In the transom we etched the legend “Wild Rose” and then added etched rose and buds on either side.  The leaded glass rose, underneath, compliments the etching.  We continued the rose theme throughout the house in an Old English style by using mouth blown Rondells, handcrafted lead castings and, in some instances, hand gold leaf on the lead castings.  In the landing window we used six inch Rondells and created a spectacular double border that works into a leaded, cabochon border surrounding a bouquet of wild roses.

Our handcrafted lead castings are featured prominently in this landing window.  The five bathroom bay windows, surrounding the antique bathtub, are a stained glass artists dream!  I was given the freedom to create an English garden for the lady of the house.  I set the garden on a leaded glass base of heavily textured glass in a diamond pattern, to obscure the view, and designed three different patterns for the wild roses.  The pattern in the center stands alone and then the leaded glass panels cascade, in mirror image, down to each side. The bathroom also features two other bays.  In the vanity bay we have five leaded glass panels.  Two of the leaded glass windows are built in mirror over faux windows to create a surround of windows in the bay.

The owner is a golfer and a golf historian and he wanted a leaded glass window for his study featuring Bobby Jones “Impregnable Quadrilateral” now known as the Grand Slam.  Bobby Jones accomplished this in 1930 by winning the British Amateur, British open, U.S. Open and the U.S. Amateur matches in the same year.  The feat has never been duplicated.  I called the Atlanta Historical Society for information and they just happened to have an exhibit on the Grand Slam showing at this time.  They very graciously allowed me to come and sit in front of the case and sketch trophies to my little heart’s content!  The result can be seen at the bottom of this page.
