The massive pillars of the front entryway frame a deceptively complex transom and side light set in this lovely Late Georgian Home. Your first impression of the leaded glass panels is one of simplicity, but as you look deeper you realize the leaded glass has a few hidden delights. A simple crossed pattern has a mouth blown Rondell in the center and handcrafted lead castings, in a ball shape, surround the Rondell. At each end of the crossed lead line, that intersects the Rondell, there are handcrafted Arrow lead castings.
Hand crafted lead castings, both inside and out, enhance this large elegant front entry with transom.

The castings are made in a mold. I sculpt the shape first and then I make a special mold that will take the heat of molten lead. When the mold has cured, I melt lead in a special pot and pour it into the mold. When the casting has cooled I trim and shape the final product and then solder it on to the lead came that surrounds each piece of cut glass. The effect of the castings is stunning. They rise off the led came a quarter of an inch, or more in some cases, and can be finished with a pewter finish or we can hand gold leaf each casting.

In the barrel-vaulted hallway, which leads to the back entryway, we have identical arched transoms at each end. They are a classical Georgian style with a little twist of mine! I put my handcrafted lead castings all around the border, at the came intersections, and also at the swag points. All the lead castings are hand gold leafed but the twist is in the soldering of the intersections on the lead came. I created an alternate design with the soldering by buffing the solder joints to a high silver shine so they accent the sun points that radiate from the center. In the back entryway, the doors under the flowing staircase, repeat the pattern of the front entryway to tie the entire hall presentation together.

Hand gold leafed lead castings enhance this double barrel vaulted hallway, leading to back entry presentation (below).
