ARCHITECTURAL
Georgian Elegance in Macon Georgia

Front entry to elegant Macon home featuring circular rotunda.

This elegant home in Macon Georgia has a front entryway to die for! It is a classical design, in the Georgian style, but with a twist! Highlighted by our handcrafted lead castings we created elegance with a bit of spice. We liberally sprinkled cabochon jewels in the borders and then used our laurel leaf, handcrafted lead castings, in a swag presentation. A small star rosette casting nestles in the middle of the swag. The laurel leaves, right and left shaped, swing up to a larger star rosette that caps the joining intersections of the swag.

We continued the theme of the castings by placing three ball lead castings, increasing in size, on the lead line leading from the side-by-side cabochon border around the center. In the sidelights we repeated the laurel leaf castings around the circle, highlighted by a star rosette casting. Restoration Glass gives the panel a truly antique look. There are two, five panel, bay windows, one in the central hallway and one in the master bedroom. Both are on the back of the house on either side of the patio and stairway leading to a formal garden.

The bay windows feature Restoration Glass and a simple but elegant design that brings a touch of Georgian to the back of the house. In the formal living room there are two arched transoms set into the wall. Separated by an Antique, gold framed, mirror, one is over a doorway and the other one is over a credenza. Both leaded panels feature our handcrafted Antique Mirror. We take a regular, one-eighth, mirror and strip away the backing. We then “work our magic” on the silvering and create an effect that mirrors the wear of a mirror from the late 1800’s. We can control the “Antiquing” to a certain extent by using a lighter or darker application.

We also offer a gold antiquing of the mirror as well and it is absolutely stunning, especially in a bath, surrounded by marble. We chose to design a classical panel for these transoms that echoes the design of the transom in the front entryway. Our handcrafted lead castings, enhanced by hand gold leafing, highlight them. The gold leafing of the castings ties in with the gold mirror frame and adds to the formal elegance of the living room.
